I recently came across a project that, like Google Books, is committed to building a massive digital library containing millions of volumes. Here is what the mission statement from their website:
“As a digital repository for the nation’s great research libraries, HathiTrust brings together the immense collections of partner institutions.
HathiTrust was conceived as a collaboration of the thirteen universities of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation and the University of California system to establish a repository for these universities to archive and share their digitized collections. Partnership is open to all who share this grand vision.”
Of course, when I read announcements like that, you know what I am thinking…Public Domain books! Of HathiTrust’s 4.6 million volumes already scanned, 708,000 are in the Public Domain and available at their site in full text view. While they do not offer full text downloads, the books and periodicals are available in PDF and TXT formats as individual pages. You can search the the HathiTrust Catalog HERE:
The other day, a friend of mine asked me on Facebook how I got so much done in my day and questioned whether I even slept. When I read her question, I chuckled because I certainly sleep, and sometimes even feel like I didn’t accomplish as much in a day as I would have preferred. But her question also got me thinking…so I took a few moments and jotted down a quick response on what motivated me to take action on my goals. I listed five for her, but in retrospect, realize that there is also a sixth one. Because of their importance in my own life, I thought I’d share them here on my blog for your benefit as well.
1. Love What I Do: You HAVE to love what you do because when you love it, doing it is easy. It’s when we are indifferent or even dread doing something that taking action on it becomes difficult. I’m sure you have experienced times of doing something you loved and the time just flew by and you felt amazing. You can experience that every moment by choosing a business that you love.
2. Intense Curiosity: I’m intensely curious about lots of things and that curiosity often compels me to take action…to find out what’s next, or “I wonder what would happen if?” Again, if you don’t love whatever it is you are doing, it’s doubtful that you will be curious to learn more. Seek to discover what makes what you need to do unique.
3. Focused Time Blocks: I tend to be easily distracted at times and find that when I set aside specific blocks of focused time, I’m MUCH more productive. I tend to like Dave Lakhani‘s rule of 45/15 – 45 minutes of focused, planned effort and then a 15-minute break. Once I implemented that strategy, my productivity increased exponentially.
4. Relentless Tenacity: One of my early mentors referred to me with the nickname of, “Tonacity,” because of my focused intent to do something, no matter what. Tenacity pushes you forward when you might, otherwise, want to quit or give up. It says, “I will go to the ends of the earth to get what I want!” I’m reminded of Winston Churchil who once declared, “Never, Never, Never give up!”
5. Huge “Reason Why”: This is a HUGE part of success! Without a “reason why” you are doing what you do, it’s likely that you will struggle to move forward in it when things get tough. Your reason why might be your family, to get a new house or car, to make a million dollars…whatever. The thing is that your reason why HAS to be compelling…it has to drive you to create and experience the success you hope to achieve.
6. Systems: I’ve learned from experience that if you don’t follow a system or method for doing the work of your business, you will not be as effective, or successful, as you would be with those in place. Systems can be as simple as establishing templates for creating your websites or copywriting to the research and tracking of your sales process. I fought this for a long time…thought I could do things “My Way” as Frank Sinatra sang…but the truth is, once I began to implement systems into my business, my success and effectiveness began to increase. Yours will as well!
My hope is that these six motivators will aid you in building the business and success of your dreams. I know that, in my own experience, they’ve had a huge impact on my own success…and continue to do so. So here is to YOUR ongoing success!

It seems that we ALL are looking for the “magic pill” that will FINALLY provide the success we seek in our businesses and in life. As I have been exploring the Public Domain, I have come across seven “technologies” that truly offer access to the answers we seek for amazing success in ALL areas of our lives. These technologies are FREE and LIMITLESS in supply…ready and waiting for you to activate them in your own business and life. But I’ll warn you…they’re not what you think.
I have written a brand-new report that reveals these technologies and spins them from a perspective that might be different from the ways you have considered them in the past. They will also challenge you to “see” the Public Domain from an entirely different perspective…one that is much more expansive than you realize right now. These technologies are some of the most powerful, transformational tools you could ever activate in your business, and I encourage you to do so, beginning right now!
A few months ago, I offered several of my products at a special reduced rate as a way of saying thank-you for your commitment and dedication to building your business (and your future) using the Proven Content of the Public Domain. The response was overwhelming and many of you LOVED the Bonus webinar series I included with your investment.
Because I have added SO many new subscribers and friends over the past few months, I wanted to extend the opportunity once again to invest in my BEST products at a savings of over 50% or more. PLUS…I’m including your choice of TWO brand-new webinar series on two of my favorite topics:
Creating E-book Products From Beginning to End
Photoshop Product Creation Tips and Tricks
You can get all the details here…check it out:
The hottest sermon being preached so eloquently these days by the the “Ministers of Marketing” is VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO. And I’ll be honest with you…I’ve been saying (and creating) VIDEO as well. It made perfect sense until I realized I was making a HUGE mistake with regard to AUDIO products!
While it’s true that video is extremely powerful and should definitely be a part of your marketing and business-building strategies, video will NEVER have the flexibility that audio has.
All the signs were right there staring me in the face. One marketing buddy has been quietly making a killing with audio products. Another buddy has been wowing the corporate world with his wisdom on the power of podcasts.
As I’ve said before, you will NEVER be able to watch videos WHILE you drive. You will NEVER be able to read the latest e-book WHILE taking your early-morning run. Video will NEVER replace audio…compliment, yes, replace, never. One only has to consider the phenomenal growth of iTunes, Rhapsody and other on-demand sites to realize that audio is HUGE…and it’s here to stay! Let’s look at this a slightly different way by posing a question…
“How many people do you know (including children) who do NOT have some sort of portable device (MP3 player or cell phone) to listen to audio?”
Exactly! Now allow me to ask you another question…
“WHY would you IGNORE such a MASSIVE market with your business? It’s crazy when you think about it that way, isn’t it?”
Well all this “audio stuff” FINALLY got my attention enough to compel me to dig into the Public Domain to see if there was content worth using there. I mean, after all, if Public Domain really IS the big deal I keep saying it is, then you would THINK that there might be something worth using for product creation in the Public Domain.
So after a LOT of digging and testing AUDIO stuff over the last several months, I only have three words to share with you about what I discovered…
OH MY GOD!
Boy was I ever missing the boat (and you are too). Well…to stay true to form with the high-quality content I’ve shared in the past about Public Domain books, magazines, images and patents, I’ve brain-dumped my business-changing discoveries, and you can find out for yourself just what I uncovered. And also let me say this…if you aren’t creating audio products YET, that’s about to change.
The truth is that it is SUPER easy to get stuck in the SAME ways of doing things and expecting different results. That axiom has been a guiding factor in my life and often challenges me to question (in a good way) my efforts. I’m NOT talking about doing something different for different sake…not at all. But if you’re doing the same things and not getting results then it’s time to make a shift!
“Create Audio Products” is the result of a genuine “whack myself in the head” (in true Homer Simpson form) realization that I NEEDED to do something different because creating audio products made MASSIVE sense. and I was overlooking it. Audio has the greatest reach of ANY medium because you can take it (and enjoy it) ANYWHERE!
So if you are currently NOT creating audio products, it’s time to break the cycle of insanity and join the rest of us. The process is a simple one and is what I share when I teach YOU to “Create Audio Products!“
